Transitioning to Providing Licensed Child Care

If you are currently offering unlicensed child care, you may be wondering about how the Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care plan impacts you.

Community Home Child Care is growing and looking for home child care Providers across London and Middlesex County!

On March 28, 2022, Ontario reached a $13.2 billion agreement with the federal government on funding and the new program will lower child care costs and improve access, and quality across Ontario’s child care and early years sector.

Why choose to offer child care with a licensed program?

  • Your families will be eligible to receive a discount on their fees (up to 50 per cent, to a minimum of $12 per day), and/or subsidy (if they qualify)
  • You can offer care for up to 6 children
  • You have the support of Community Home Child Care including,
    • A dedicated Home Child Care Coordinator (a Registered Early Childhood Educator) to help you transition your business, and provide ongoing support for you and your program
    • Administrative assistance related to your program including, but not limited to, fee collection
    • Enrollment assistance, including connection to the licensed child care waitlist for London and Middlesex County (where families request care based on their needs)
    • Access to professional learning opportunities and resources 
    • Access to a resource lending library of program materials and equipment

As an approved Provider with Community Home Child Care, you will also be a part of London Children’s Connection, an organization that has provided high quality child care and family support services in the community for over 40 years.

London Children’s Connection and Community Home Child Care programs are licensed by the Ministry of Education.

Q: Do I need to change the activities I offer in my program?
A: As a Provider with Community Home Child Care, you are welcome to determine the structure of your program and what is offered throughout the day. You will find plenty of guidance and ideas within the How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years document. 

Q: Can I choose my own business hours?
A: Yes, you can! 

Q: Can I choose the families that I work with?
A: Yes, absolutely!
