Our playgroup leaders build relationships and are able to provide information and resources to support the whole family, all while sharing their knowledge of child development and How Does Learning Happen?

These free EarlyON playgroups offer an opportunity to invite children and their parents or caregivers to come and play, explore and spend quality time together. As a playgroup leader you can help create a safe, welcoming and educational environment where children and adults interact together and have fun! 

Full-time term position from November –approximately the end of February 2025

37.5 hours/ week at the Family Centre and other Community Playgroup Locations

Possibility of Supply staff part- time opportunities- Various Family Centre Locations

Locations and Hours of Work: 

This opportunity will be at the Westmount Family Centre located at 1019 Viscount Rd. in London. And at other Community Playgroup Locations across the area. 37.5 hours/ week including flexibility for some evenings and Saturdays. Access to a vehicle and an ability to drive is essential. 

Qualifications: 

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education 
  • Proof of membership in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators 
  • Minimum of two years working with children and their families 
  • Availability during mornings (9:00 am- 12:00 pm), as well some afternoons and evenings as required 
  • Familiarity with community resources 

Skills required: 

  • Positive leadership, excellent communication, and well-developed interpersonal skills 
  • Along with creative programming skills, a highly developed knowledge of child development 
  • Ability to work effectively, both independently and as a team member 
  • Comfortable working with adults as well as children 
  • Strong working knowledge of pedagogical documents such as How Does Learning Happen? and ELECT

Position responsibilities: 

  • To be responsible for the operation and supervision of creative, engaging and welcoming playgroups 
  • To be responsible for ensuring high quality service delivery for parents/caregivers and their children, from infancy to six years of age 
  • To ensure the program and environment are stimulating, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate 
  • To ensure a safe, healthy environment at all times 
  • To effectively support playgroup volunteers and students on placement while ensuring the policies, practices and the guiding principles of LCC, are followed 
  • To actively participate as a member of the Family Centre team 
  • To complete additional tasks as assigned by the Program Coordinator
